《地牢围攻2》的故事发生地仍是Aranna大陆，但时间却和原作完全不同。游戏中，你的身份是一个雇佣兵，你可以自己设定人物的属性，包括性别，种族（四个种族：人类，树妖，精灵和半巨人），外形等。之后要做的是选择难度，和暗黑一样，有不同的难度供选择，在通关之后还能用原来的人物换个难度再玩一次，实际上，游戏只推荐高等级人物（70级以上）才去尝试最高难度，否则变态的怪物会让你非常非常郁闷。
